Who is Matt Walker?

Matt is a stand-up comedian and talk show host. Inspired by seeing an unfunny

comedian on TV, he decided, “If they can get on TV and be unfunny, than I can at least

be unfunny on a stage.” Luckily, he saw an ad on the Internet for a comedy class taught

by nationally headlining comedian Dante. (Yes, he has a last name, but no, I can’t spell

it, and besides, he doesn’t use it anyways.) Dante had Matt up on stage after two class

sessions, and that quickly led to him doing shows around Southern California 3-4 nights

a week.

Comedian

Fortunately for his audiences, Matt turned out to be pretty funny. He counts as his major

influences Dante, Ron White, Dave Attell, David Cross, Chris Rock, Bob Newhart, and

Dave Chappelle. He now tours with headliners Mike Muratore and Rene Sandoval, and

has played shows at clubs, casinos, bars, bowling alleys, video stores, and corporate

functions. He was also asked to be a featured participant at the roasts of

comedian/actor Eric Edwards, comedian Rene Sandoval, and Dante. Matt now regularly

performs throughout the country, and has performed at venues such as the Ontario

Improv, Moondoggies in San Diego, Black Oaks Casino in the Yosemite area, and at the

Friar’s Club in Beverly Hills. Matt finished 2nd in the “Funniest Comic in the Valley”

contest in 2004, and was a finalist again in 2005. He has a small role in the film Tears of

a Clown, directed and produced by Tony Spires, and recently appeared in the pilot of a

reality show about young comedians in Southern California to be produced by GoKart

Films.

Broadcaster

Matt has produced and co-hosted Small Business Radio on 97.1 FM KLSX in Los

Angeles since the spring of 2002. Broadcasting each week to tens of thousands of

listeners, the show is both entertaining and educational. The show teaches

entrepreneurs, managers, and small business owners how to attract more business.

The show was honored by the Small Business Administration in California when Matt’s

co-host, Mark Deo, was named “Small Business Journalist of the year” for 2003. Matt

also co-hosted the National Hair Hour, a show all about the prevention and treatment of

hair loss from November 2002-December 2003 on KLSX.
